About our Keynote Speaker:

Suicide Loss Counselor & Certified Grief Educator, Jeff Jackson, lost his wife, Gail, to suicide in 1998. Three years later he authored "A Handbook for Survivors of Suicide." Drawing on his background in marketing, Jeff distilled key insights and information about suicide into this succinct but information-packed booklet targeted toward survivors who are not yet ready to dive into full volumes about suicide research. It was published by the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) in 2003, and was recently updated and translated into Spanish.

Since 2019, Jeff has helped lead Solace, a peer-led support group for suicide loss survivors in Southern California, and has served as a volunteer counselor with the AFSP program "Healing Conversations" since 2021, providing one-on-one support sessions for fellow survivors. He has also served on the board of the Los Angeles chapter of AFSP. In May 2026, Jeff was a featured speaker at the AAS annual conference.

To date, Jeff has spoken directly with well over 1,000 suicide loss survivors, which has provided him with unique insights into the phenomenon of suicide.
