Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an internationally recognized, evidence-based approach that offers immediate emotional support to individuals affected by traumatic events—from personal crises to larger-scale situations like natural disasters and public health emergencies. PFA is based on a series of core principles, which include fostering a sense of safety, encouraging calm, nurturing self-efficacy, promoting connectedness, and instilling hope.

Following this presentation participants will be able to:

  • 1. Understand the principles and application of PFA

    2. Identify and address the immediate needs and concerns of trauma-impacted individuals.

    3. Apply field-tested, evidence-informed strategies in various settings

    4. Deliver interventions appropriate to the individual's developmental and cultural context
