Introduction to Digital Media Overuse & Treatment Considerations

 
 

Presented by Tracy Markle, MA, LPC & Brett Kennedy, Psy.D., CSAT, this event is virtual and free to clinicians ONLY for (2) Continuing Education credits. Must attend BOTH presentations.

Tracy Markle and Dr. Brett Kennedy will provide mental health clinicians and professionals with the foundational knowledge necessary to understand behavioral addictions, including the five types of digital media overuse. This presentation will provide attendees with the basic assessment skills and key harm reduction and abstinence-based interventions developed for the treatment of digital media overuse and addictions.

Following this presentation participants will be able to:

  • Identify the five types of Digital Media Overuse (DMO) - Social media/Video Gaming/Pornography/Information Overload/Compulsive Spending

  • Differentiate between digital media overuse and addiction

  • Being able to recognize Gaming Disorder and Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder

  • Identify and understand the common co-occurring diagnoses associated with DMO

  • Recognize effective harm reduction and abstinence-based approaches to the treatment of DMO
